Key insight about the project goes here

The Humboldt Park Health Wellness Center features a highly expressive building envelope defined by complex geometry, fluid forms, and a layered façade system that brings depth and movement to the exterior. The design incorporates sweeping curves and faceted surfaces that required precise engineering and fabrication to achieve the architect’s vision. Metal Design Systems fabricated both the solid and perforated aluminum composite material (ACM) panels, creating a dynamic façade that balances sculptural aesthetics with high-performance building envelope functionality. The perforated unitized ACM screen wall panels were integrated with the glass curtain wall system, delivering solar shading, visual texture, and a cohesive architectural expression.

Working through the MDSI Design Lab, Metal Design Systems collaborated closely with JGMA Architects to develop the complex panel geometry, perforation patterns, and unitized façade strategy. This partnership enabled seamless coordination between the ACM panels and glazing systems while ensuring constructability and long-term performance. The result is a distinctive, unitized façade system that enhances durability, energy efficiency, and visual impact—demonstrating how advanced fabrication and early design collaboration can transform ambitious architectural concepts into a striking and buildable exterior solution.
Through close collaboration with JGMA, the MDSI Design Lab could contribute to a
facade that not only enhances the building’s visual appeal but also optimizes its
performance and sustainability.
