This project that was Design Assisted by Metal Design Systems, Inc. is bringing a unique environment to downtown Des Moines.  The projects lower level is a Hy Vee grocery store, there are 81 apartments above it, with an attached parking garage for consumers and tenants.

OPN Architects designed the project.  MDSI provided the necessary solutions for the metal panel systems the design required.  The majority of the project was our Series 44 system utilizing two ACM manufacturers: Alpolic and Arconic.  There were some areas that required custom attachments and details, such as balcony guardrail and dividers.

The guardrails and parking garage are clad in material called Zalmag from Millennium Forms.  All of the Zalmag on the project was fabricated by MDSI and then sent to McKey Perforating to bring another unique quality to the appearance.

In all, Metal Design Systems, Inc. provided nearly 1,400 panels at 22,400 square feet of material.  We were able to provide great solutions to some very complex areas on the exterior of this great addition to downtown Des Moines.
